Mental Health Month - October

It is more important than ever to focus on our own mental health and to support those around us. This month is mental health month in Australia and at Appy the best way we can help our mental health is supporting our body. If you are moving and feeling good the mind will follow. We have all had those days where a bad headache can effect your mental state all day. So, what can you do to help your body unload some of that unwanted stress? We are here to help.

  1. Stretch - taking time out of your day to support your body is such a positive action to help your body and mind. Especially with our buzzing busy lifestyles, slowing down can be a great way to support our mental health. My suggestion is to slow down, turn on your favourite podcast, music or meditation track and STRETCH. It can be 10-15 minutes but will make a massive difference to your overall day. It not only will help the mind slow down, but increase blood flow and help your body feel better.

  2. Fresh Air - it is all about oxygen. More oxygen to your brain = more brain power! Can't go wrong with that. Spending time out in the fresh air, especially in green spaces, is one of the fastest ways to improve your health and happiness. It's been shown to lower stress, blood pressure and heart rate, while encouraging physical activity and improving mental health.

  3. Exercise - moving your body releases chemicals such as endorphins and serotonin that improve your mood. If you exercise regularly, it can reduce your stress and symptoms of mental health conditions like depression and anxiety.

  4. Sleep - give your body and mind the adequate amount of rest to recovery from our daily lives. We all know that great feeling after a nice restful sleep. Make it a priority!

Try to implement some, if not all of these things into your day and week.

You can thank us later.
